You may only register for ONE class per day as these are 8-hour classes.

Multi-class discounts will be given in the form of a rebate, or if the "invoice" option is chosen, the discount will reflect accordingly. 

WEDNESDAY 9/23/2020

Patrol Response to Tactical Situations – Sgt. Rachel DeHoyos (FWPD)

Class Size = 20

This course is will cover responses for officers, regardless of rank, that are often first on scene to an incident that may become dependent on other resources; SWAT, SRT, Hostage Negotiators, etc.  After the  “Four C’s” of patrol response to critical incidents (contain, control, communicate, call SWAT) are in place, what do you do if the subject becomes active before those additional resources arrive? This course will discuss strategies for the responding officer in implementing the Four C's, and Immediate Action Plans to react to an immediate or imminent threat.

Preparing for Promotion – Patt Scheckel-Hollingsworth (TCOLE Commissioner)

Class Size = 15

There has been much written and discussed regarding the” Glass Ceiling” when it comes to women in leadership roles in organizations.  In Criminal Justice the predominate competition for positions are males. It is not about leveling the playing field, it’s about presenting your best self! This course is designed to address strategies for a potential candidate to look at to improve their individual performance when being considered for promotion or selection.  The types of traditional processes for assessment centers will be discussed with information regarding what is being evaluated.  Discussion about preparing for the assessment process from choosing proper attire to how to respond to questions posed to the applicant.  Practical exercises will be conducted throughout the day.

Intermediate Pistol – Gun Fighting Skills – Officer Jaime Malone (FWPD)

Class Size = 20

This fast paced course is designed to give the officers the skill set to rapidly engage during deadly force encounters. The class focuses on running your handgun at speed in a variety of conditions. The course focuses on advancing your skills to your maximum ability through repetition. As the course progresses you’ll be exposed to the psychology required to draw and successfully hit targets at reactionary speed.

Overview:

  • Skill Assessment

  • Multiple Targets – Static / Moving

  • High Speed Target Engagement Exercises

  • Rapid Deployment

  • First shot hits 

  • Shooting and Moving / Moving and Shooting

  • Mind Set

 

Student Required Equipment: Duty Belt containing at least Duty Handgun and holster, 3 magazines, mag pouch, wrap around ballistic eye protection, ear protection, brimmed style cap, 300 rounds of ammunition (No reloaded ammunition). Optional: Patrol Gloves.

THURSDAY 9/24/2020

Tactical Carbine – Officer Mike Moore (FWPD)

Class Size = 10

This fast paced course will be a refresher course for the student to the carbine where the methods of fundamental marksmanship and tactics will combine to allow quick and effective deployment in a tactical situation. The course focuses on advancing your skills to your maximum ability through repetition.

  • Shooting Fundamentals

  • Multiple Skills drills

  • Tactical/Speed Reloads

  • Position Dexterity

  • Rapid Deployment

  • First shot hits 

  • Shooting and Moving / Moving and Shooting

  • Mind Set

 

Prerequisite: Students must have prior carbine training, good working knowledge of the carbine weapon system and fundamentals as this course will only refresh the basics before quickly moving into the tactical shooting drills. Weapon must be sited in and zeroed to the shooter before attending class.

 

Student Required Equipment: AR style carbine w/tactical sling and 3 magazines, Rifle magazine holder or chest rig, wrap around ballistic eye protection, ear protection, brimmed style cap, 300 rounds of ammunition (No reloaded ammunition). Optional: Patrol Gloves.

High Risk Encounters (Scenario based simmunitions training)  - Gloria Marcott, Rio Rancho, AZ

Class Size = 20

This course will focus on response to high risk calls for service that forces quick assessment on scene and immediately moves to engagement of threats, surroundings, and situational factors.   It incorporates immediate action response training, building searches, room clearing, tac med response to victims and will force you to manipulate the environment from beginning to end of the call for service.

FRIDAY 9/25/2020

First Line Supervisor – Sgt. Rachel DeHoyos (FWPD)

Class Size = 25

This course is for women in law enforcement who are first line supervisors or those aspiring to be first line supervisors with a desire to further develop their leadership skills.  Being a good supervisor requires strong leadership, self-confidence, competence, management skills and an understanding of how you influence their subordinates. This class will take a brief look at making the transition to Sergeant, fundamental principles of leadership and supervision. We will also discuss “lessons learned” and challenges to female leaders.

Tactical Life Saver – Officer Brandi Kamper (FWPD)

Class Size = 25

The Tactical Lifesaver course is designed for Police Officers and focuses on what to do for yourself or another officer in the case of a medical emergency. We focus on the basics of care under fire, and treating officers in an officer down situation.
